Background Information
My name is Anthony Calise and I have been a teacher for Baltimore County Public Schools for the past 24 years as well as a Math Professor for the past 20 years at several different colleges. I have taught numerous courses in person and online, from Basic Algebra all the way up to Advanced Statistics and Discrete Mathematics. I was the Academy of Engineering Coordinator at Lansdowne H.S as well as in charge of the Mathematics Team, Mathematics Club, and the Video Game/Design Club. I have coached Baseball and Golf at the high school level and I am currently teaching Probability & Statistics, Pre-College Math and AP Statistics.
I am also teaching several math classes at Johns Hopkins University, Loyola University, CCBC, and AACC during the evenings and on the weekends. My specialties are in Statistical Analysis and Discrete Mathematics, but I love teaching any math/statistics course. I grew up in New York where I graduated from Bethpage High School in 1997, then moved to Maryland in order to attend Towson University, where I received Degrees in Mathematics & Mathematics Education. Towson is also where I met my wife Katie, who I have been happily married to for the past 19 years. We have two beautiful daughters Elizabeth and Olivia.

Math Joke of the Month
Airport Security
A stats professor plans to travel to a conference by plane. When he passes the security check, they discover a bomb in his carry-on-baggage. Of course, he is hauled off immediately for interrogation.
"I don't understand it!" the interrogating officer exclaims. "You're an accomplished professional, a caring family man, a pillar of your parish - and now you want to destroy that all by blowing up an airplane!"
"Sorry", the professor interrupts him. "I had never intended to blow up the plane."
"So, for what reason else did you try to bring a bomb on board?!"
"Let me explain. Statistics shows that the probability of a bomb being on an airplane is 1/1000. That's quite high if you think about it - so high that I wouldn't have any peace of mind on a flight."
"And what does this have to do with you bringing a bomb on board of a plane?"
"You see, since the probability of one bomb being on my plane is 1/1000, the chance that there are two bombs is 1/1000000. If I already bring one, the chance of another bomb being around is actually 1/1000000, and I am much safer..."
